Biggenden Billabong

  • Biggenden Billabong — Pages Crossing

You will soon see that along with pottering around, studying and creating art I love adventuring and exploring my local area.

My village, Biggenden doesnt have much natural water around.  It is situated in a valley at the foot of “The Bluff” Mt Walsh also known as “Mother Mountain” which dominates the local landscape.

Mt Walsh and the seven sisters mountains nearby split storm systems and many go around Biggenden and miss the area altogether.

When the rains do come, they flow in powerful stunning waterfalls down the face of the bluff and into the “source” waters of the Isis and Burnett river systems.

Degilbo Creek is the source of the mother waters, along which a stunning eco system of wildlife and plants are sustained by the beautiful pure waters.  Along the creek are numerous waterholes or Billabongs which are teeming with creatures and vines stunning trees.

Just two kilometres from town is Pages Crossing where the national trail and the old stagecoach trail crosses the Degilbo Creek. This is the site of the old township of Degilbo which is now moved 6 kilometres away.

All along the creek is dozens and dozens of gorgeous Peacocks, which were pets of the settlers who have now made their home in the creek.

and this is my secret spot, well not so secret now. 🙂

it is the place I go to swim, bushwalk, unwind, to relax, to meditate, to forage and to just be in the moment of nature.

It is a piece of magick in this world, my world.
